Language and the introduction programme

Learning Norwegian and understanding society are central to settling in. Refugees and some family members may have rights to the Introduction Programme through their municipality.

Learning Norwegian

Norwegian classes are usually organised by your municipality's adult education (voksenopplæring). Your rights and the amount of training depend on your residence basis.

The Introduction Programme (introduksjonsprogram)

For eligible refugees, this is a full-time programme run by the municipality — Norwegian language, social studies (samfunnskunnskap) and work or education practice — to help you into work or further study.

Your municipality's role

Your kommune organises classes, the programme and local integration services. Contact them early — this is where you sign up.
